My son started bassoon lessons with Caroline when he was 6 years old. Not knowing much about bassoons, Caroline gave me great advice helping to source a mini bassoon, small and light enough for a young child.

He’s been gradually getting to grips with scales, reed  issues and some of the trickier notes to play. What’s been greatly valued (and hard to source) is how Caroline is able to relate extremely well to children, and gives very clear, manageable notes for us to work on throughout each week. The lessons have been throughout Covid periods, in person and on zoom, and both have worked well.

From a parent’s perspective, I love the bassoon as it doesn’t have any squeaky/scratchy sounds that are common when learning other instruments 🙉👍🏼

Caroline has taught both my daughters for the past year and their progress has been fantastic.  As a pianist myself, I struggled to teach them and keep their focus, but Caroline's lessons have kept them engaged and really enjoying playing the piano.  They will do their piano practice without parental prompting (which I always struggled with!) and we have fun doing the duets together which she recommends.  I've had several piano teachers myself and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Caroline.

 My son started learning to play the Bassoon with Caroline at the age of 9. Prior to his first lesson he had never played a Bassoon but he was intrigued to learn. Under Caroline's guidance he very quickly progressed and achieved a Distinction in his Grade 1 exam. Caroline's supportive and encouraging manner helped his confidence to grow and within a few months he was playing in his school orchestra. Caroline also introduced non exam pieces which gave my son a wider portfolio of pieces to enjoy. He has loved his lessons with her as he always feels that he has progressed in some way.
